Enchanting Allure of Austria – A Journey Through Alpine Landscapes, Rich Culture, and Timeless Charm

Austria was part of our 18-day road trip around the beautiful cities of Europe in Austria, Czechia, Germany, and Hungary. We choose to visit Vienna, Salzburg, and Hallstatt, the Trifecta of Austrian Delights.

Vienna, the capital city of Austria, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and architectural grandeur. Stroll through the enchanting streets of the Innere Stadt, the city’s historic center, and marvel at the magnificent Hofburg Palace. Immerse yourself in the musical legacy of Mozart and Straus as you attend a classical concert at the renowned Wiener Royal Orchester. Take a leisurely walk in the opulent Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace gardens or indulge in a slice of the city’s rich coffeehouse culture at one of the traditional Viennese cafés.

Nestled amidst the majestic Alps, Salzburg is a city that captivates with its old-world charm. The birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg is a haven for music enthusiasts. Follow in the composer’s footsteps as you visit his former residence and explore the iconic Mozartplatz. Lose yourself in the baroque splendor of Salzburg Cathedral and the Hohensalzburg Fortress, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Vienna Itinerary:

  • Day-1 Land in Vienna. Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, The Hofburg, Albertina Museum, Austrian Parliament Building, and the Evening concert at the Wiener Royal Orchester
  • Day 2: Visit to Schönbrunn Palace, Sigmond Freud Museum, Operahouse, Karlskirche
  • Day 3: Visit Belvedere Palace, Kunsthistorisches Museum

Salzburg Itinerary

  • Day 1: Reach Salzburg
  • Day 2: Visit Morart Birth Palace and Residence, Salzburg Cathedral, Hohensalzburg Fortress, and the 2 pm Sound of Music Tour
  • Day 3: Day trip to Lake Konigsee and Hallstat

Practical details

  1. Stay: Charming apartment in Wein in Vienna. Villa Flocker in Salzburg
  2. Traveling within Vienna: Few destinations can be visited by walking and others are easily accessible via Vienna U Bahn
  3. Traveling within Salzburg: Easily by walk. Day trips to Hallstatt and Lake Konigsee by self-drive car. Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, book at https://www.panoramatours.com/de/salzburg/
  4. SIM: We bought an A1 SIM available all around Vienna that can be used also in other European countries( we had in our plan viz Czechia, Germany, Hungary)
  5. Car rental: We hired a car from Zippy Autorent in Vienna City and return at Vienna airport after our trip through Czechia, Germany, and Hungary. We prepaid the toll charges for driving in Czechia, Austria, and Hungary.
  6. Must Eat: Sacher cake and Mirabell Chocolates.
